Company Overview:

Our client is a chemical company focussed on sustainability, via the development and commercialisation of a range of transformational technologies based upon the acetylation of solid wood and wood elements.  The Company’s head office is based in London.  It has a processing plant in the Netherlands, is building a plant in Humberside UK and has a sales office in the USA. The Company has approximately 200 employees globally.

Role Summary:

To work with and provide support to the Head of Procurement to ensure long term and cost efficient supply of materials and services to the Company.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

To source from a range of suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations, agree delivery times and place commitment based on price, quality and according to customer demand, company policy, processes and budgetTo source alternative products and reviewing existing ones to ensure prices remain competitive with no compromise on quality or delivery scheduleTo prepare and analyse reporting of procurement data in line with key functional performance indicatorsTo issue invitation to tenders, evaluating tender submissions, negotiating favourable terms and instigating framework agreementsTo produce procurement statistics, such as material ordering levels year-to-date for each material usedTo maintain a cost database for items procured

Identification and delivery of cost reduction opportunities and measuresDraft agreements with suppliers using appropriate contracts and utilising internal business experts as appropriate, eg. LegalImplement supplier quality management processes and ensure adherenceDevelop and maintain good working relationships with both internal and external partiesProvide internal training

 

Risk Management & Compliance

Accountable for the effective management of owned risksAssist in identifying and implementing processes to control risksComply with all relevant company policies and procedures at all times

 

Qualification / Experience Requirements:

Bachelors Degree (or higher) or equivalentProven experience of procurement, preferably within the manufacturing sectorMCIPS or studying towards
